KIJK — 10 december
An artistic project with a social dimension, a social project with artistic dimension... It's not something I can defend any day of the year. For me, an activity where I — personally — can experience something I don't experience every day, an activity where everyone can explore his/her own creativity, an activity which creates new connections and community is artistic enough.
Next to it, I have my emotions and feelings, and I don't have words enough to tell how much I gain from it.
KIJK — 3 december
Het was weer een leuke dag. Dank aan iedereen en heel veel liefs.
Wij hebben "Belgium's got talent", "America's got talent" en nog van alles in deze richting gekeken en het was, volgens mij, de moeite. Soms kon ik me niet afleiden van wat er te zien was op het scherm terwijl dat meestal verlies ik mijn aandacht heel makkelijk.
Hier zijn de tekeningen — en zelfs niet enkel tekeningen maar ook gedichten en een brief.
Volgende keer heb ik een banaanbrood beloofd en het is het plan om iets met Johnny Depp te bekijken.
KIJK — Drawings from 26 November 2017
I haven't written much on this blog and the number of things I should write grows exponentially. So I just start posting instead of waiting for when I have enough time to organise everything decently.
So "KIJK" ("LOOK") project still exists, more than that, it evolves. Now there's a team of four people who keep it running, it has changed location, now it takes place in "Het Badhuis", the cafeteria of Museum Dr. Guislain. It is really cozy there, the atmosphere is warm... and there are even people who keep coming back and bring new people. (Basically, two and something years ago when I started, that was my dream that it would be something like this. There was some disappointment on the way, I seriously wanted to stop at some point — now I can admit it — but the crisis is behind and, well, it seems that there is a community forming on.)
The next goal is to kind of justify all the effort and the existence of the project and its team and its participants by publishing a book with drawings and testimonials.

Давным-давно, почти три года назад, я провела свою лучшую фотосессию на плёночную камеру 6x6". К сожалению, плёнку я вставить забыла, так что сделанные с невероятным тщанием фотографии никогда не увидели свет. А это — пробники для замера экспозиции, они позволяют немно-о-ожечко представить, как же гениальные снимки выглядели. Как молоды и безбашенны мы были. Как много же мы пили.
Long-long time ago, about three years ago, I have had the best photo session I have ever performed with a Hasselblad camera. Unfortunately, I forgot to load it. So the brilliant pictures were captured only with air and have never seen the light of day. Here are some tests made to measure the exposure so you can have a glimpse of how genius the pictures could have been. Ah, oh, we were so young and reckless. Ah, oh, we drank so hard.

"Organic Liberation" is one of the groups originated in the project "Is it creative? Yes. Is it art?" We have four sessions behind the back and there are a few more to go.

I organized this session, and I had then a very particular feeling... I didn't do it for two weeks but I didn't have to feel guilty for not organizing the event, it was there with Peter. I felt much calmer and rested and excited. And there were quite a few people who came and I had a feeling that it starts to become a community.

The sound research — session # 3
This time we were practicing with magazines. We wrote down about 20 tasks for the players and placed them in a specific order. Each player was supposed to follow the order of the tasks in his/her own tempo.
The sound research — session # 2
In the second 'sound research' session, we began with listening to Olivier Messiaen and Goldberg variations on Bach. Bit per bit we started exploring what kind of sounds can one make with die KUNSTZEITUNG.
Later, we thought of a few 'tasks' we can 'answer to' using the newspaper sounds. For instance, 'slower', 'faster', 'happy', 'dramatic', 'tick a page for 10 times'. The tasks were written on paper cards and the conductor was showing us them to direct us. And here's what we got.

Then we had a session about long exposure and flash light. And painting with light.
Happy happy women day
I had a workshop today in Bloemekenswijk, Ghent, as a part of a festivity for the Women's day. It was an introduction to my project "Is it creative? Yes. Is it art?"
I must say, it was really, really, really highly enjoyable. It was really interesting to talk about what is art, and what's the threshold, and about the art market. It was also wonderful that everyone found her own style.
Thank you, ladies! There are still 5 places to inscribe for the workshop. It will happen in the buurt centrum Bloemekenswijk on Wednesday morning, starting next week for 10 times. I will post an update with the program very soon. Don't hesitate to write me if you have any questions!

Ik vind het erg dat ik in de plaats waar ik me thuis voel enkel voor maar bepaalde duur mag blijven. Hieronder is er briefwisseling die ik onlangs met een Sociaal Bureau voor Kunstenaars gehad heb.

Dank je wel! Ziet er fantastisch uit! Nog een vraagje voordat ik de ingevulde inschrijvingsformulier stuur. Ik zie dat er voorzien is dat de kunstenaar die zich bij jullie aansluit kan een buitenlandse paspoort hebben. Bij mij is het inderdaad het geval, meer dan dat: ik zou eventueel verlenging van verblijfstitel moeten aanvragen, momenteel heb ik een studentenvisum maar het loopt in september af. Klopt het dat ik zou jullie werknemer zijn en jullie mijn werkgever? In dat geval zal het ook mogelijk zijn om via jullie een werkvisum met verblijfstitel aan te vragen. Ik zal wel alle documenten willen voorbereiden en indien er extrakosten voor jullie zijn wil ik het graag compenseren. Alvast bedankt!

Ik heb net alles eens goed nagevraagd en onderzocht en spijtig genoeg is dit iets wat wij niet kunnen/mogen aanvragen.
Mijn collega's raden aan om eens langs de dienst vreemdelingenzaken te gaan en bij hen vragen wat je best kan doen in jouw geval.
Hopelijk vind je snel een oplossing.
Als ik nog iets voor jou kan doen, laat het mij dan zeker weten.

Het is inderdaad heel spijtig. Kan ik dan me nog steeds bij jullie aansluiten? Ik zou wel graag officieel mijn opdrachten laten verwerken terwijl ik nog hier ben.
Bij de dienst vreemdelingenzaken ben ik al geweest, helaas, hebben zij geen opties voor mijn situatie.
Ik ben vandaag bij een advocaat geweest. Ik zie maar twee mogelijkheden:
- in dienst bij een werkgever te gaan als een hooggeschoolde werknemer, de moeilijkste voorwaarde is de minimumloon van 40,124 brutto (mocht u over zoiets horen, laat me aub weten, ik stuur just in case ook m'n CV);
- probeer volgens de regularisatieprocedure voorzien door art. 9bis van de Vreemdelingenwet. Er is bijna geen kans voor succes maar ik wil het toch een keer proberen en dan zou ik een grote bundel van alle soorten documenten maken waaronder iets wat ik van u zou graag willen vragen. Ik stel het me voor dat ik aan de heer minister uitleg hoe goed en braaf dat ik ben en dat ik geïntegreerd ben en dit en dat en dat ik een verblijfsvergunning aanvraag op voorwaarde dat ik geen sociale steun ga aanvragen en wel zelf voor mijn inkomsten zorgen — en hier komt uw sprake — dat ik bijvoorbeeld als kunstenaar via jullie SBK ga met de opdrachtgevers omgaan. Zal het mogelijk zijn om zoiets te doen? Ik zou graag een tekst voorbereiden hoor. En het zal waarschijnlijk pas in april gebeuren dat ik die aanvraag ga voorbereiden.

Ik vind het allemaal heel vervelend voor jou en heel spijtig dat dit allemaal moet gebeuren.
Wij worden spijtig genoeg ook beperkt door bepaalde regels en wetten die wij moeten volgen.
Voor jou elektronische kaart A hebben wij een arbeidskaart nodig. Van zodra we die hebben, kunnen wij jou onder contract plaatsen. Zolang we dit niet hebben, kunnen wij spijtig genoeg jou opdrachten niet verwerken.
Hopelijk vind je snel een oplossing.
